O-Rings ~ Oil Seals ~ Custom Molded Rubber and Plastics ~ PTFE Products
O-Rings are round in shape and come in many different sizes with the typical dimensions being Internal Dimension (id), Outer Dimension (od), and thickness or cross section (cs). PEC is a global supplier of O-Rings in any size, color, durometer, material, and specialty mold you need for any industry. With over 40 years of experience, PEC brings you services and products that not only meet but exceed the industry's standards and expectations. We make it easy for you to get the O-Rings you need when you need them! We carry AS568 Standard O-Ring sizes and ISO 3601 Standard Metric O-Ring sizes to meet all your O-Ring needs! Thanks to our in-depth knowledge of Vendor Management Inventory and our excellent stocking capabilities we make it easy for you. Need help with material identification & testing we got you covered. Custom molded O-Rings come in many different sizes and are produced for both static and dynamic applications. If you have a larger size O-Ring whether it be Standard AS568 or Metric you will want to request a custom mold with PEC. Static seals, as their name implies, are O-Rings set in place to perform a single function. Unlike static sealing O-Rings, dry film lubricants for dynamic sealing O-Rings are made with motion in mind. Custom molded O-rings with PEC can be produced in multiple ways with durometer, cross-section, ID, or material. You have two options when being produced Compression Molded or Continuously Molded. Compression Molded O-rings are common with high volume orders and Continuously can handle almost any ID size usually better for little amounts of dynamic O-Rings.
Encapsulated FEP (flourinated ethylene propylene) & PFA (perflouroalkoxy-copolymer). FEP Encapsulated O-Rings have great resistance broad range of chemicals like alcohol, acids and such. PFA Encapsulated O-Rings have greater mechanical strength and better temperature resistance.
Operating temperature for FEP: -76° to +400F°
Operating temperature for PFA: -76° to +500F°
One of the most common materials used for O-Rings is Nitrile rubber, better known as NBR, HNBR, HSN, or Buna-Nitrile. Good for lower cost, lubricants and greases, or mechanical needs. The cure system of the polymer also affect the chemical and physical resistance properties of Buna materials.
Operating temperature: -40° to +250F°
Known for high resistance to a large variety of chemicals and heat. Great with resistance to the ozone and aging.
FKM Compounds: V747-75, V700-75, 19357, V14-75, 9009-75, F13664, 514AD, 9500-75
Operating temperature: -20° to +400F°
Great resistance over time, to ozone, and weathering. Can also be used over a large temperature range. Commonly used in the drug and food industries. You will find standard silicones are resistant to water, some oils and fats. Resistant (to 100 °C / 212 °F). Non resistant to steam short term with 120 °C / 248 °F can be possible. Temperature range with applications can be restricted.
Operating temperature: -75° to +400F°
Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) known for great resistance to sodium hydroxide solutions, silicone greases and oils, hot water & steam, most diluted acids and chemicals, detergents, and most polar solvents.
Operating temperature: -65° to +300F°
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) has a number of applications and is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene. Commonly known as Teflon PTFE is a fluorocarbon solid. Consisting of carbon and fluorine it is a high molecular weight compound. Water containing substances cannot wet PTFE. One of the lowest coefficients of friction with any solid.
Operating temperature: -100° to +500F°
FFKM (ASTM 1418 standard) (equivalency to FFPMs by ISO/DIN 1629 standard) are compounds with a larger amount of fluorine than that of FKM fluoroelastomers. Resistance improved to higher temperatures and chemicals. Commonly used to produce O-Rings and gaskets.
Operating Temperature: -8 to 482°F
AFLAS has better steam resistance than FKM and more cost effective. A copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and propylene.
Operating temperature: -25° to +450F°
Neoprene also known as polychloroprene is a synthetic rubber that is produced with polymerization of chloroprene. Neoprene is either a solid rubber or latex form. Used in a variety of applications.
Operating temperature: -40° to +225F°
Fluorosilicone O-Rings (FMVQ) primary use is in fuel systems and in applications with dry-heat resistance is required. Brings both high and low temperature properties with silicone and not much oil and fuel resistance. Wide operational temperature range.
Operating temperature: -76° to +392F° (-60° to +200C°)
Polyurethane (PUR and PU) is a polymer composed of organic with carbamate (urethane). Used in microcellular foam seals and gaskets.
Operating temperature: -30° to +180°F
