Square Rings, commonly called square-cuts, lathe cuts, or tabular cut were introduced as an economical change from O-Rings. Usually only used in dynamic applications as energizers in cap seal assemblies. When used in static applications the Square Ring will act as a replacement to the O-Ring.  Square Rings are manufactured by molding an elastomer sleeve which is then lathe-cut, compression molding, transfer molding, and injection molding.
